When cancer is confirmed, every case is reviewed by a multidisciplinary tumour board (surgical, medical, and radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, and reconstructive surgery together) so the recommended plan is the one with the best evidence and the best fit for you. Where breast-conserving surgery (lumpectomy with radiation) is suitable we offer that as the default — many women keep their breast — and where mastectomy is needed, immediate reconstruction is discussed at the very first surgical consultation, not as an afterthought.
